Valentine’s Day Guide: What to Do, Wear, & Give
Can you believe that it’s almost already Valentine’s Day!? This year I want to share with you what to wear, what to buy, and what to do depending on who you’re sharing this special day with! I personally feel like Valentine’s Day can be a few different things: It can be a day to celebrate your love for that special someone, a day to spend with your favorite girlfriends hitting the town, or a day spent cozied up at home! Whatever you decide to do, let this post be your guide ❤️
WHAT TO WEAR
DATE NIGHT
Date night’s are always special, especially on Valentine’s Day! I love to take this opportunity to get really dressed up in your girliest outfits and hit the town with your love looking like a million bucks.
STAYING IN
So as much as I love a good date night, staying in is by far my favorite these days! You can cozy up on the couch watching a movie together, choose a recipe on pinterest and make it together, or order take out and watch true crime shows (my version of a romantic night in haha) – the possibilities are endless! And you can definitely stay in and still look adorable!
GIRLS NIGHT OUT
Hitting the town with your girls to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Get it girl! Dress up extra girly with heart accents, lots of jewelry, and fun bright colors to get that #girlgang noticed on the town!
WHAT TO BUY
GIFT GUIDE FOR HER
I’m not going to lie, I am the hardest person to shop for. It’s to the point where I don’t want random things, I want to buy with intention – so a gift guide like this would be perfect to give your special someone as a hint. Accent pieces, small home decor items, and very basic life luxuries (I mean, who doesn’t love a good quality satin robe?!) are always welcome in my book!
GIFT GUIDE FOR HIM
Gift guides for him used to stump me, but think about what your man does on a daily basis and it de-mystifies them! For example, David wears cologne everyday (he loves choosing it in the morning), he goes to the gym pretty frequently, loves to cook, etc – so I would organize my gift ideas around that! Plus again, it’s those little life luxuries that maybe they wouldn’t buy themselves but that make their life better daily that are the best gifts!
WHAT TO DO
STAYING IN
When I was young I always thought that I had to be on the go, go, go – when in reality, some of my favorite memories lately have been with my friends and David at home!
Throw a movie or netflix marathon
Throw a Valentine’s Day party with friends, couples, or even your family!
Host a Galentine’s Day brunch or drinks!
Cookie decorating night in anyone? Yes please.
Have a spa night in! Paint eachother’s nails, do face masks, hair masks, the works!
Find recipes on pinterest and see if you can actually replicate them. When all else fails, there is takeout!
GIRLS NIGHT OUT
Even though I love staying in, I know that when you’re single and ready to mingle sometimes you want to just go out! Or when you’re in a relationship, I think it’s a very healthy thing to still go out without your significant other.
Find a good local happy hour in the evening, get dressed up, and go!
Make a reservation made for a fancy dinner with you and the girls, I mean – any excuse for steak + wine right?!
If none of the ideas excite you, go to the club. Wear that sparkly dress, drink the vodka soda, and dance your butt off. It never fails!
DATE NIGHT
Traditionally I’d let my man plan the date night… but because I’m a bit more organized than he is (love you babe! haha) I would just give him helpful hints! Do you want to go out to a romantic dinner? Maybe mention one that just opened. Want to go to a specific event? Show him you’re interested so they don’t have to keep on guessing!
You plan the date and buy tickets for two to an event you’ve been dying to go to: museum, movie, show – whatever it is it will surely be a good date night out!
Paint the town with a local wine + paint night place – this has become pretty popular in recent years so you can usually find one available in major cities.
Be a tourist in your own city and go to local attractions you guys have never been too and make a day out of it!
The best of course: a romantic dinner for two and I always recommend to go big or go home for it on Valentine’s Day and stay in a fancy hotel overnight. It makes the night more memorable!
Whatever you end up doing, wearing, or giving this Valentine’s Day, I hope you do it with a full heart and have an absolutely amazing time! Xoxo!
